A truly comprehensive book, enjoyable to both read and look through. It covers the history and scope of air travel, including airport and aircraft design, corporate identities and marketing in a thorough, extensive and compelling manner. It is distinctive in how it successfully melds a global scope and a focused perspective.

This book is an excellent overview of the history of civil aviation, terminals, and airfields. The attention to detail, both photographic and linguistic, is marvelous and provides a wonderful account of airport design. The faithfulness to the original traveling photo exhibit allows readers the opportunity to experience the cultural presentation alongside the historical reconstruction. All in all, a wonderful book for any aviation fan.

BfAT is one of the most intriguing books you'll find about airports. It covers a lot of airport design aspects- but it is not an engineering book. In other words, you won't have to face boring charts and graphs. All you get is interseting texts, divided into differnt issues, and many rare and beautiful pictures. If you really like airports- you should have this book.

What a lot of people don`t know is that Paul Bunyan had a wife and two kids .His wife`s name is Carrie and their kids are Little Jean, the boy, and Tenny, the girl. The Bunyans have lots of adventures . They make a lot of landmarks along the way like the Big Sur and the Rocky Mountains. I love the book. I like the book because they keep on making landmarks. I also like how the pictures show proportion.

I think that is was a really good book and if you would like to get it, you should. Because if you have read Paul Bunyan before, then this would make it very interesting and fun to read

It's a short book...great to read to kids.

Just when you thought you'd heard it all about Paul Bunyan you find out about the accomplishments of his wife and children. For example: you've heard of Mammoth cave? Well.......... And what about when the kids are grown and Paul can retire??

And please. Don't look at the last page until you've read the whole book especially if you're interested in astronomy.

If you have no other book about carousels, this is the one to have. Not only does the book illuminate the history of carousels, dispelling some common myths along the way, but the step-by-step, well illustrated process of carving a carousel is clearly explained in easy to understand terms. As Bruce's identical twin brother I can attest to the heart, mind and artistry that goes into every one of Bruce's creations. Many years ago I received a call from Bruce and he pleaded for my help. I replied that I had no knowledge or skill. Bruce persisted and taught me how to carve carousels using the same steps and techniques described in this book - several of the carousels I have carved are pictured in this book. Perhaps one of your creations will be in his next book!

Although this magnificent book is being marketed as a strictly how-to book, as a lover of carousels I attest to the fact that this book includes more history and delightful anecdotes about carousels, horses, designs and designers than any other book ever. Bruce encourages you to set your imagination free. Also, there is a step by step structure showing Bruce's one of a kind process. Even if you don't carve or don't want to start, it is still enlightening to see how this present day master carver makes lovely masterpieces for carousels and living rooms.

This book is, without a doubt, the best instructional book for wood carvers in the past decade. I sincerely wish that Jeff Phares will do another book soon. I am certainly happy that the book is available through Amazon as his book seems to be selling out at most book stores.

I have been teaching graduate social work for fifteen years and have yet to discover a text about psychosocial casework that surpasses this revised classic in its clarity, depth, thouroughness, and wisdom. The basic psychosocial orientation and typology of casework procedures defined by Florence Hollis remains intact, yet the text, as a whole, is substantially updated by Mary Woods, whose fluid prose is rich in clinical detail, articulate, and aimed at what the practitioner yearns to know and needs to know. As an experienced clinician, I still turn frequently to the chapters on couple and family treatment where protocols for navigating these exceptionally tricky modalities are clearly presented. In chapter 16, for example, Mary Woods develops a typology of "relationships and problems" detailing 12 patterns of couple conflict that, in itself, serves as a primer for the novice practitioner. Approaches to nontraditional couples (premarital couples, unmarried pairs, cross-cultural relationships, and gay and lesbian couples) are amply discussed as well with sensitive consideration of social differentials in power experienced by men and women and by couples of color. As a graduate social work clinician of 15 years, I turn to Casework: A Psychosocial Therapy to renew my understanding, hone my skills, and refresh myself on the particulars of treatment techniques and procedures involved in individual, family, and couple work. There are few books that blend theory and the "how-to" of clinical practice in the ways that this book does. It is an exceptionally clear text. This book reminds the clinician of the importance of listening closely to what is important to clients as opposed to imposing upon them what we think should be important to them. Respect for the client is foremost, and this book underlines this and other values which represent the best our profession offers. It is the definitive test in psychosocial casework, and I heartily recommend it to others.

A friend of mine had been deeply engrossed in a book for a while. She had gotten it as a gift and was unable to put it down. When she finished, I asked her about it.
"It's called Children and Fools, and it's absolutely fantastic!" was the answer I got.
If she had called it "absolutely fantastic", well, that's pretty big! So, I asked if I could read it. She said yes, and I took it home.
Mr. Mirll really has a way of writing. This guy has to be a genius or something! When I finished I didn't want to return it right away. It's terrific.

I enjoyed this book a lot and have already loaned it to a number of friends and relatives. Mirll has a great way with words and takes what may be rather standard situations and creates incredibly funny stories out of them. It's light-hearted for the most part, but you do pick up quite a bit about Austria. Having lived in Austria during the time in which the story is set, it struck me as very accurate and inciteful.

The main thing is that it was wickedly funny - at several parts I was laughing harder than I have in a long time. If you enjoy excellent turns of phrase, absurd situations and have something of a cynical turn, you'll probably enjoy this book. I'll definitely read anything else the author writes.

If you're looking for a good book to read, Children and Fools by Terry Mirll is a terrific one.
Set in Austria, this delightful tale is altogether funny. It's like Animal House, but set in Europe! The embarrassing things that happen to the star of this story, which include an acrobatic turkey and a maniacal soda machine, will make anybody laugh.
The story is set at the time of the Gulf War, and there are serious moments too, adding just a bit of suspense. The history of Austria, its ways and customs, and other details definately make this book a wonderful reading adventure.
Well written and clever, you are sure to enjoy Children and Fools- a Twisted Tale of the Vienna Woods, by Terry Mirll.

Steve Wood's, "Christian Fatherhood" has had a continuing and growing influence on me. Having been married fourteen years, my wife and I have had our share of challenges. Most books like this only show pictures with prices. Michele's book gives me more information, background and a true understanding about the dolls, there origins, and the true history. Besides, it's a fun book to read with great photos. I'm glad I found it.

But this is not just an adventure story but also an accurate conveyance of history and the personalities of the time. He also manages to discuss the history on a thematic level - approaching issues such as human rights and colonialism. The illustrations are beautiful and add to the sense of wonder first experienced when viewed for the first time from European eyes.

I fully expected this to be another dry, somnolent history book. Was I ever wrong! Michael Wood has written a conversational account of some of the most gripping yet unreported events in this hemisphere. Trust me on this: you will love his style and his expertise. Wood puts you in the mind of Cortes, Pizarro, and de Vaca and passionately paints the history created by these men. This book will make you want to walk in their footsteps.

This book is awesome! It has countless pictures of where the Conquistadors explored, conqured, and changed the course of history. It has everything from Cortes and the conquest of Mexico and the Aztec Empire, to Francisco Pizarro exploring the Inca Empire. Best book out about the Conquistadors!
